• Description: Kovacort 6 Tablet is classified among the category of medicine popularly known as steroids and it contains Deflazacort 6 mg. It is prescribed to address a range of ailments and conditions including inflammatory conditions, autoimmune disorders and certain forms of cancer. It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration with peak concentration occurring within 1-2 hours. The half-life of the drug ranges from 1.1 to 1.9 h. Deflazacort is a corticosteroid prodrug with an active metabolite, 21-deflazacort, which binds to the glucocorticoid receptor to exert anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects on the body. Urinary excretion is the major route of elimination, accounting for about about 70% of the excreted dose. The remainder 30% is excreted through the feces. Elimination is almost completed by 24 hours post-dose. It can be administered in empty stomach or after meals.
